COTD - 6 of Pentacles reversed (Vanessa Tarot & Tarot of the Magical Forest)

Once again the reversed 6 of Coins/Pentacles appears in my life. Is it a question of generosity or sharing or an issue of receiving?

I’ve been considering this quite a bit since the last time I drew this card. It made me realize that I’m not especially cheap with anyone but myself. I actually do enjoy giving people things. In fact tonight I went to dinner with a friend and decided to treat her to dinner. It was a fairly pricey dinner but I honestly didn’t begrudge it. She has been very generous to me over the years we’ve known each other and it was time for me to give back. And I think that is the key to this card.

At some point in our lives I think everyone is both a giver and a receiver. We may not realize it because sometimes we don’t value things that aren’t monetary or material. But I have been blessed by gifts from people who have influenced me to choose this career or to behave in a certain way. I never did drugs because there were people whose influence on me convinced me that this wasn’t the best way for me to go.

In many ways (too numerous to count) my husband has been a significant influence on my life. He gave me the most important gift of all – the ability to laugh at myself. Various friends have given me the gift of seeing myself from different perspectives. Even my various supervisors have given me gifts – whether positive or negative, which have impacted how I operate and handle situations.

Perhaps the message the reversed 6 of Coins is trying to tell me is not to lose sight of these gifts; to appreciate them and let them enrich my life and at the same time to be willing to share my gifts with others so that they can be blessed too. I think that’s a pretty good gift to receive and share.
