COTD - Knight of Wands reversed (Medieval Scapini & Legend)

"After taking some personal risks, you may be feeling the need to put intense energy into being with yourself and discovering your self. You're so committed to your own growth and direction that you may be unaware of the rest of the world. You may be strongly introverted now, or you may be exploring a part of your personality in a secret or hidden manner." Gail Fairfield
One who revels in conflict. Unproductive behavior. Lack of focus. One who sows discord for entertainment. The breakup of a relationship. Anne-Marie Ferguson
Well, let's see today was an interesting day. We had to visit one of the agency's centers to do an administrative review. Basically we're checking on the personnel files and participant files to ensure that all the documents necessary are in place. The train ride to get there is rather long and it requires a bus trip once you're off the train, but it wasn't as bad as I feared. I have been having fun getting to know one of my colleagues better. He is a very intelligent, informed and low-key kind of guy. He and I have both been at this agency a number of years and been overlooked and insulted in a variety of ways. But we've both managed to hang on and still do quality work.
I think the benefit of being around him so much is that I can study his techniques and see if they can help me. His energy is very King of Cups with an underpinning of Swords. He has had interesting life experiences and ideas. We might disagree on various things but I always enjoy talking with him. What I find most interesting is that he is sometimes socially awkward. It's almost as if he goes to a different plane and just sort of checks out. You almost have to wave your hands in front of his face to get him back.
On a personal level I think there is something interesting and useful in watching how someone can be more like a willow - bending but not breaking. He manages to stay true to himself and his ideals without being confrontational. It's not that he doesn't feel anger, he just doesn't feel the need to express it the way I do. It's an admirably quality and one I might do well to emulate on some levels. I'll never be able to truly embody this man's style, but it is always helpful to observe the different ways people handle similar situations and see if it can help me in any way.
Looking at the cards I am struck by how primitive the Scapini Knight of Wands appears. And when one considers what Britain was like in the Dark Ages then I'm sure Bedivere was no angel either. Both knights would probably be fierce fighters - loyal and relentless if met in person. Perhaps the additional message they offer me is that now isn't the time for relentless loyalty and fierceness. Maybe it's time to put down my spear, control the baton and give the rod a rest. Discretion might be the better part of valor at this point.
