COTD - Death reversed (Medieval Scapini & Legend)

You are going through an emotional or personal regeneration process.  Your circumstances may not be changing at all, but inside you are completely transforming.  You may be sensing a total psychological death and rebirth.  You are destroying one way of being so that a new way can be born. - Gail Fairfield

Old habits hinder growth.  Feeling held back, stifled, and yet unwilling to risk change.  This adds to the burden, and leads to an enforced traumatic change.  Avoiding the inevitable brings boredom and depression - Anne-Marie Ferguson

I do think it's important to remember that old habits can stifle and stagnate someone.  There are several areas of my life that are stagnate right now.  Most of them are personal areas - not work related (which is something of a relief).  I need to do something about my health and weight issues.  I say that a lot and I think about it a lot but I don't actually do anything.

Looking at the skeleton on the Scapini card I am struck by the almost choreographed move he seems to be making.  He seems to be moving like a martial artist going through exercises.  It is mesmerizing.  Perhaps that is the point - we are so enraptured watching death's dance that we cannot avoid the scythe.

On the Legend card, Gwyn ap Nudd's wild hunt is represented.  In myths it was believed that Gwyn led his wild hunt through the sky during the dark of the night and would take the unwary with him.  Some might make it back home the next day but many became swept up in the world of faerie and never returned.

In both cases there is a sense of movement and wildness; a need to keep moving even when you're not sure why.  And that might be the message I need to carry away with me.  As they say, you have new growth until you clear away the dead wood.  I am letting the dead wood take things over.  It's even manifesting in my home.  I have piles of things that need to be organized or put away and I just keep procrastinating.  I think if I can manage to get myself in gear and start taking steps to clear away all of this detritus, I might find it easier to make the other changes I need to make.  I may be able to break free and do some wild riding of my own.
