COTD - King of Cups reversed (Golden Rider and Hallowquest)

"His generosity is proverbial; his creative counseling shows the seeker the way to negotiate the confusion of the quest, for he is the guardian of the hidden mysteries." - Caitlin & John Matthews

"An involvement with a psychic process has reached an end.  You've reached the completion of a phase in your psychic or spiritual growth.  You could be leaving a church or spiritual group or ending a time of disbelief in psychic phenomena.  It's important that you symbolize this rite of passage in a way that's meaningful to you." - Gail Fairfield.

I think this card's message to me is fairly simple - take care of myself and focus on internal things.  That worked out perfectly because hubby and I spent the day just enjoying each other's company.  Every so often we need that.  I have come to realize over the years that what we have is actually very solid.  We're not together because of "the kids" (we don't have any).  We're not together because neither of us can afford to live alone.  We've stayed together for over 25 years because we genuinely like each other's company.  We enjoy spending time with each other.  We don't always agree with each other or even understand each other, but we love each other and support each other.  With the way things are today, this makes our relationship worth more than gold.

I can trust his opinion on things, even if I ultimately disagree with him.  I know that he has my best interests at heart and he's willing to have those difficult conversations.  It doesn't always make for a peaceful relationship but it does make for an honest one.

That makes things easy today.  I think one of the challenges the King of Cups offers is for us to explore our relationship and be honest about it.  I think the emotional support we give to each other allows us to be there when others need us.  I know that without each other we would not be able to face some of the family obligations that have faced us.  We would not be able to deal with all of that stress and craziness.  We function as each cushion against the world.  We support and comfort each other.  So I think the King of Cups is reminding me to value this relationship and what it brings to my life.  If I ever lost it I don't know what I'd do.
