Twos symbolize formation, balance, partnership, polarity and the coming together of opposites.  Twos can indicate that the focus can no longer be only on oneself; that there is another factor influencing the situation.  They represent the affirmation and confirmation of new directions that were begun at the Ace level.  Wands are usually associated with the element of fire, inspiration, energy, passion, feeling, enterprise, ambition, matters pertaining to the "spark of life". 

Fairfield:  Claiming and validating yourself; saying "yes" to a new role that you've definitely decided to play perhaps after comparing and contrasting it with other possibilities; naming the new identity and claiming it for your own.

Renee:  Some opposition has arisen to challenge your plans or actions, and now decisions, modifications, and accommodations have to be made.  Set up challenges that can help you set goals, define issues and work out creative compromises.  Find a way to achieve a more creative balance in the nature of your work and other activities.  The 2 of Wands may be applied to situations where you have to collaborate with people, or where certain types of problems have arisen.  This card favors business partnerships.  Be flexible enough to receive input from others.

Looking at both these cards I am struck by the sense that both figures are surveying the potential world they will move out and conquer.  They are not yet at the point where that conquest is assured, right now it is in the planning stages.  But there is no reason to assure these confident, assured people will not achieve their goals.  They are looking out over their potential domain and envisioning a time when they will be the lord/lady of that domain.

I think this is where I am with some aspects of my life right now.  I had an amazing chat with Sasha last week and the two of us realized that we are much more responsible and responsive when we have someone else to whom we need to be accountable.  As the song goes "it takes two baby".  We spoke about possible working together as partners in a venture that might benefit the Tarot community.  I think that could be very interesting.  It will take a lot of research and planning but I think it might ultimately be worth it.

Ultimately what I am taking away from this card is that I need to take a more active role in planning my own future.  I keep saying "I want to do" this or that but I'm not actually doing any work to achieve that goal.  I need light a fire under my behind and start putting into action all the lessons and workshops I have attended.  In some respects I already know what I need to do but now is time to do it.

I think I also need to be more open to seeking advice from others who have done it before.  Picking their brains might be especially helpful to me.  It might spark some ideas or provide some insights that I'm missing right now.  I know it's not in my nature to learn from someone else's mistakes but this might be very helpful right now.  It's almost as though I've been standing still too long and now it's time to take that first step balancing myself between where I am right now and where I want to go.
