What do I most need to know today? - Knight of Pentacles/Coins (Jane Austen & New York)

The Knight of Pentacles can represent a focus that is too narrow; the need to develop greater breadth of vision; experimenting with imaginative problem-solving techniques; lethargy, lack of discipline; inability to make plans, limited vision; irresponsibility, especially when it comes to carrying out assignments.  Knights symbolize protection, strength, ambition and questing.  Pentacles are associated with the material world, acquisitions of wealth and possessions, our connection to Earth and Nature, sensation, matters pertaining to the physical plane and the element of earth. Pentacles can also be connected with practicality, groundedness and being realistic.

"You are focusing so hard on establishing security that nothing else seems relevant.  You may seem like a workaholic.  You are putting all your energy into your home, career, physical body, or financial affairs.  You are feeling that you need to work hard right now, with few distractions." - Gail Fairfield

Ah, my poor Knight.  He needs some attention.  Today really confirmed that this card often refers to my hubby.  Things have been a bit trying lately and instead of working with him and supporting him I managed to make things more difficult for him.  It wasn't intentional but it was frustrating.  The end result was a squabble that could have easily been avoided.  I have to remember that keeping the lines of communication open is always useful.

I also find it funny that the New York Knight of Pentacles is a cabbie.  My husband would have made a great cabbie - at least back when cabbies worked for themselves.  He loves driving, knows his way around NYC and is scrupulously honest.  Of course I don't know if he would have been able to deal with the demanding and sometimes wacky passengers that tend to abound in NYC.  Looking at this card does make me smile - the Knight of Pentacles invites you into his cab and seems to promise that he'll get you there in one pice - no small feat here in NYC.  He's reliable and trustworthy.  You can count on him to get you where you're going safe and sound.
