What song is the Piper at the Gates of Dawn playing for me today? - 2 of Cups/Water R (Sacred Rose & Gaian)

Twos symbolize formation, polarity and the coming together of opposites.  Cups are associated with the element of water, with emotions, love, pleasure in life, matters pertaining to the unconscious, intuition and inner planes.  The 2 of Cups offers a message of joining, an emotional relationship, being part of a couple.

Gail Fairfield:  You are validating or claiming a psychic or intuitive experience.  You are choosing to open up to that inner part of yourself and accept your own psychic talents.  You could also be connecting with some private feelings or choosing a secret relationship.

Having just finished The Wind in the Willows I decided to be a bit whimsical in my approach to my Card of the Day and see what the Piper at the Gates of Dawn might have for me.  Drawing the 2 of Cups reversed suggests to me that I need to look at my relationship; put some energy and attention into it.  With all the stress and aggravation we've gone through in the past year, it's easy to forget to spend some time just focusing on our relationship.

I love the send of joy and affection shown on the Gaian 2 of Water.  The white dog is affectionately posed with his paws on the woman's shoulders.  She has her head turned up as though playing a game with the dog.  There seems to be an emotional bond and true love and affection between these two creatures.  On the Sacred Rose 2 of Cups, a couple stand close to each other, each grasping a golden chalice from which an effervescent beverage flows.  They are emotionally bonded and are sharing their joy and affection with the world.

Reversed this card may be showing that what we need to do is focus our energies within, looking at ourselves and what we need from this relationship.  Before we can offer any kind of love, support and sharing to another, we need to be sure we are able to share.  There is a saying that we can't love someone else until we learn to love ourselves.  If we don't have that sense of self-love and acceptance then we will have no reserves to drawn from when our partner  needs some extra support.

I caught the end of the movie Philadelphia tonight and was once again moved to tears by the sad and touching ending.  Watching the relationship between Tom Hanks' and Antonio Banderas' characters as they struggle through the court case and Hanks' battle with HIV is touching and heart-rending.  They are true partners and watching at the end as Banderas kisses Hanks' fingers and holds his hand as Hanks announces he's ready to go makes me tear up just thinking about it.  That is what a loving partnership is about to me - being able to work through the ups and the downs of your life together and still support each other through the rough patches.
