What do I most need to know today? - 7 of Swords (Sacred Rose & Gaian)

The number 7 in many cultures is a sacred number (think of the 7 chakras) and is the number of divine and earthly harmony, of fate and transformation.  Swords are associated with reason, thought, logic, will, courage, verbal skill, matters pertaining to the mind and survival in the world and the element of air.  This card can sometimes refer to a hidden agenda, someone who is being sneaky or underhanded about an issue.

"You're experimenting with your schedule, lifestyle, or daily routine.  You are exploring and expanding the ways you communicate; you may be talking or writing a great deal!  Your lifestyle is full of variety and activity." - Gail Fairfield

The two images on these cards did not seem complementary at first.  The Gaian card shows a man staring at a map to find his path towards his goal.  The Sacred Rose card shows a man huddled in on himself holding up a hand to stop swords from  coming in his direction.  Rather contradictory at first.  But as I looked at the Sacred Rose 7 of Swords  I noticed that he seems to be holding a paper in his lap.  Then I decided that he is trying to complete writing his life's work and he is holding the swords off so that he can finish.  It is not fear on his face but impatience.  He has found his path but others are either trying to interfere or perhaps they are seeking his advice in how to find their own way.  He is in no danger, except of being interrupted.

When I considered these possibilities I interpreted these cards to mean that I need to start finding my path, thinking about my life's work and mapping out the way.  Instead of stumbling along in the dark, I should try to create some light on the path so I have some idea what lays up ahead.  Surprises can be wonderful things but not when it comes to planning out your life path.  Of course one of my biggest challenges in life has been planning things.  I'm one of those folks who doesn't plan to fail, I fail to plan.  Obviously this is one trait I need to change while I still can.
