What is my lesson for the day? 8 of Pentacles/Coins R (Tarot of Prague & Hezicos)

8 is a number of setting priorities and goals, systems, regeneration and structure, practicality, balance and symmetry.  On its side 8 resembles the lemniscate - a symbol of infinity.  Pentacles are associated with the material world, acquisitions of wealth and possessions, our connection to Earth and Nature, sensation, matters pertaining to the physical plane and the element of earth.  Pentacles can also be connected with practicality, groundedness and being realistic.  The 8 of Pentacles is the sign of the craftsman, someone whose talents and skills are acknowledged and admired by all.

"You're evaluating the different things you've tried in your search for stability.  You recognize which processes consistently bring you a deeper level of security.  Now, you can re-evaluate your security-seeking patterns and choose the ones that work the best for you." - Gail Fairfield

Well, it became clear over the course of the day that this card's message was "don't count your chickens before they're hatched".  I had plans to meet with a friend for lunch so I got up early and took the bus down.  I managed to make it all the way without getting bus sick, but it was a near thing.  When I got to my apartment I took a nap because I was exhausted.  I only got an hour or so sleep last night.  I set my alarm and settled in for a nap.  At 10:00AM my phone rang.  It was my friend canceling our plans for today because she was exhausted.  I completely understood but did find it ironic because I dragged my tired carcass all the way here for nothing.

Later in the day I was talking with another friend who I was planning to meet for dinner tomorrow.  During our conversation she said something that made me question whether our plans were still on.  She admitted that she didn't think she'd be able to make it because work was especially hectic.  That's when it hit me that maybe the reversed 8 of Pentacles might be telling me not to count on plans that had been made actually coming through today.  It's not one of the worst lesson I've ever learned but it was a bit disappointing.
