6 of Swords/Shadows R (All Hallows & Wormweird) - What attitudes or beliefs need to be challenged right now?

Sixes symbolize the union of opposites, finding equilibrium, harmony in the face of constant change.  The suit of Swords is associated with  reason, thought, logic, will, courage, verbal skill, matters pertaining to the mind, communication and the element of air.  Traditionally it can mean moving away from something, perhaps something dangerous, a journey, moving to a new and/or different point of view.

"You are repeatedly affirming certain beliefs or attitudes.  The more you repeat them, the truer they seem.  Your beliefs and attitudes are no longer being challenged or attacked.  Now, they are simply accepted and reiterated." - Gail Fairfield

"Madness haunted the Baron from the moment of his conception within the womb of his lunatic mother.  He detested the wretched insane of his father's asylum, and always feared that madness would one day pierce his own mind.  "The Six Daggers of Madness" has always hung over him - an undefined menace that are over his soul., threatening to drop any moment as a multiplied version of the "Sword of Damocles".
Recognize the times when fate cannot be mastered and be humbled by the infinite realm of possibilities" - The Wormweird Codex

Madness!  Is it madness to try to leave behind that which caused us pain or discomfort?  Is it madness to try to move beyond your own boundaries and explore new shores and new horizons?  At one time that is certainly how society viewed innovators and iconoclasts.  Now I certainly don't claim to be either.  In fact if anything, I can be relatively fixed and stubbornly cling to my existing viewpoints about things.  It's probably one of my least endearing tendencies.

I can certainly understand the Baron's perspective on this situation.  There are days when I feel as if I'm surrounded by the wretchedly insane.  In fact I joke that I have a Cassandra complex - no matter how much I warn other about the impending doom, they scoff at me.  Of course that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm not the insane one.  That is a distinct possibility.  There is (or used to be) a school of though in psychology that insanity is the natural response to the current state of the world around us.  That would mean the "insane" people are more mentally healthy than the sane.  Of course in reality both labels are essentially useless - they exist in vacuums.  In reality we probably all have moments when we experiences periods of "insanity" and "sanity"; sometimes several cycles during the course of the day.

Maybe it's not a question or madness or sanity.  Perhaps what I need to consider is what needs to be left behind.  After all if I'm moving forward and preparing to explore new shores then perhaps what I need to consider is that a change in attitude is called for as well.  I think the biggest challenge for me is to change my own perceptions about me.  Considering that I've been postponing any efforts to actually create any sort of business for myself as a professional Tarot reader (despite my claims that this is what I want to do), I'd say a change of mindset is in order.  Of course that might be easier said than done.  Perhaps the altered states offered by the Wormweird Tarot can be a guide through this unfamiliar and somewhat frightening territory.
